Frequently Asked Questions

GENERAL

How do you pronounce your name?

Ker-stin Kruh-pps

Where are you located?

I am currently located in Austin, Texas.

Why did you start this blog?

I started this not only as another creative outlet but also as a portfolio to my content marketing capabilities. As a marketing professional, it’s nice to show professional and personal examples of my work. Not only do I create and publish content at my day job, but I also enjoy doing it for my interests and hobbies, as well.

What did you go to school for?

I went to Bradley University in my hometown of Peoria, IL. Originally, I majored in Interactive Media, but switched to Communications with a focus in Advertising. I made the switch because the program went from a more broad, well-rounded curriculum of digital communication media to very focused on web development, video game design, and animation. I decided to make Interactive Media my minor and jumped into the Communications department. I’ve learned a lot about the communications world and my background in IM definitely gave me an advantage in producing actual advertisements for classes. I graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor’s degree.

Currently, I’m getting my MBA from Lamar University and should wrap up in October 2023. It’s all online and full-time, so it’s been an adjustment to switch up my schedule to account for homework and whatnot, but I’m in the home stretch!

What is your day job?

I’m a marketing professional at a medical device company and work your standard Monday – Friday 8am – 5pm. Photography, design, and marketing consulting are some things I do on the side on nights and weekends when I have time.

What breed/color are your dogs?

Lola and Kai are both blue dachshunds. Lola has alopecia and is almost hairless and Kai is long-haired.

What’s wrong with Lola? Why is she in a wheelchair?

Lola has IVDD (Intervertebral Disk Disease) and had an episode in July of 2013. She essentially slipped a disc in her back and it pressed into her spinal cord, paralyzing her. She had surgery to remove the disc, did lots of physical therapy, and has made tremendous strides and continues to improve to this day. She only uses her wheelchair or cart when we go out and about. She walks at home, just not well! I have an in-depth blog post on my pet photography site about it here.

How did you become a therapy dog team?

I have an in-depth post on it here!

I created a whole page with all of my favorites for you!

I’m 5’6 and usually a small (2, 4) in tops, small or medium (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 26, 27) in bottoms, and an 8.5 in shoes.

Do you ever sell your clothes or accessories?

Occasionally! I should probably get better at that. I usually put it up on Facebook market first to try to sell things locally, but I do have a Poshmark.

How can I shop your posts?

There are a few ways! The easiest way is to download the LIKEtoKNOW.it app and ‘follow’ me in there – @kirstenkrupps. You can also always shop all my looks on the shop my posts page of the blog or in individual blog posts, as well.

BEAUTY

How did you get into makeup?

I danced for 20 years and had to do “stage makeup” pretty early on in grade school when I started doing solos and duets. In high school, I was on the color guard and dance team, so my interest grew from there. I had a quick stint at the makeup counter at Macy’s when I was in college before I got a marketing internship. It’s just a hobby now and I find it super relaxing to leisurely get ready and do my makeup. And yes, I do have entirely too much makeup and have been on a low buy for a while now.

What are your favorite makeup brands?

In general, I like Lime Crime, Fenty Beauty, Colourpop, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Tarte, and Urban Decay.

What is your skin tone and skin type?

I’m usually in the light spectrum with neutral undertones and have combination skin. I’m oily in the summer and dry in the winter!

BUSINESS + PHOTOGRAPHY

How did you get started in photography?

I was always the “picture taker” in my group of friends. I always had my point-and-shoot and loved documenting our hangouts. In high school, I took a film photography class senior year and it really sparked my interest. After high school, I was an interactive media major and we learned quite a bit about DSLRs my freshman year. I was constantly borrowing my dad’s Rebel XSi and for Christmas in 2010, my parents got me my own XS. I quickly outgrew my rebel and moved up to the 60D. I haven’t really stopped since, though I moved up to a professional camera in 2013.

What camera gear do you use?

Currently, I own:

  • Canon 5D Mark III
  • Canon T5i
  • Tamron 24-70mm f/2.8
  • Tamron 70-200mm f/2.8
  • Tamron 35mm f/1.8
  • Canon 50mm f/1.4
  • Canon 85mm f/1.8
  • Canon 40mm f/2.8
  • Canon 60D
  • Canon T5i
  • Canon 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5
  • Canon 600EX Speedlite

I often rent additional equipment when it’s necessary, as well.

What photo software do you use?

I use Photoshop for all my photos.

I’ve always been a concert buff since high school. It’s still one of my favorite things to do. Once I started interning at the radio station in 2012 and then working on and off over the years since then, I made other connections in the area – venues, promoters, bands, etc.

Can you get me into this show/concert/event?

Unfortunately, I do not have access to additional tickets or anything like that to get you into shows. Your best bet is to buy a ticket or listen to 105.7 the X and see if you can win a pair!
