I finally saw live music in person again! It has been entirely too long, since February 2020 to be exact. I had the pleasure of seeing Badflower and Dossey at the Haute Spot in Cedar Park. I was just so tickled to see a concert again and bust out my concert wardrobe because lord knows it’s been neglected due to the pandemic! The Haute Spot is a newly renovated venue that had some great protocols in place to be mindful of the pandemic concerns, including staggered parking so no line to get in, as well as ordering food and drinks via your phone directly to your table. The venue itself was super cool, with a mostly open/outside feel to it. There was astroturf covering the venue, though, which was great since it had rained literally all day and this meant no mud! We were at a small table near the sound booth, which I was a-okay with. We had a great view and very easy access to the restrooms, too.

There was one opener, an Austin-based artist named Dossey who I absolutely enjoyed. She gave me Zella Day vibes, but with a more modern and harder feel. I looked her up and followed her immediately. I would definitely love to see her again around Austin and plan to do that. Side-note, she was 8 months pregnant up there singing her heart out and putting on a fantastic show, so mad props to her for that feat alone! And then it was onto Badflower who did not disappoint. They played 16 songs and covered all the favorites, as well as their radio hits. They sounded exactly the same live as they do listening at home, which is always a pleasant surprise. They put on a fun show and I had a blast. If they come around again, I will certainly make sure I see them.
