I could not escape the craziness of Scandoval when it first came out last March. So, naturally, I decided to watch Vanderpump Rules from the very beginning to see what was the deal. Besides the drama and amusing antics of the cast, I found myself intrigued by the fried goat cheese balls at SUR. I love goat cheese, so I imagined that they had to be pretty damn good. After doing some research on fried goat cheese balls, I decided to give it a try myself. I’ve gotta say that these turned out fantastic. They were super savory yet sweet with a perfect crunch. Follow along below if you want to make them, too.
Ingredients
- 4oz Log of Goat Cheese (makes 8 balls)
- Panko Bread Crumbs
- Eggs
- Frying Oil
- Mike’s Hot Honey
- Chives (optional)
Directions
- Cut your goat cheese log into 8 equal parts and them roll them into balls
- Add the egg to s bowl and then the Panko to another bowl.
- Dip each ball in the egg, then coat it with the Panko. Repeat twice for each ball.
- After all the balls are well coated, cool them in the refrigerator or freezer for about 20 minutes.
- Heat some oil in a skillet with sides. When the oil is hot, fry 3-4goat cheese balls at a time, turning every so often until they are golden brown on all sides. This shouldn’t take more than about 2-3 minutes of frying.
- Remove the goat cheese balls from the skillet and place onto a paper towel until you’re all done frying.
- Optional, but top with some chives and then you’re ready to serve!
- Next, plate your goat cheese balls.
- Take the Mike’s Hot Honey and drizzle on top of your goat cheese balls. You could also put the honey in a side dish to dip the goat cheese balls into instead.
If anyone has had the ones at SUR, please comment and let me know how they taste! In the meantime, I’ll enjoy these until I can cross that off my bucket list.
