Ghost is a Swedish rock band known for their unique blend of heavy metal, doom metal, and hard rock, combined with theatrical elements and dark lyrics. The band was formed in 2006 and released their debut album, “Opus Eponymous,” in 2010. The identity of the band’s lead vocalist, known as Papa Emeritus, was kept a secret until 2017 when it was revealed that Tobias Forge, the band’s founder, was behind the mask. Since then, the band has continued to gain a dedicated following and critical acclaim, releasing several successful albums such as “Meliora” and “Prequelle.” Ghost’s music is often described as haunting and melodic, with influences ranging from Black Sabbath to Blue Öyster Cult. Their live performances are known for their elaborate costumes and stage props, making for a truly immersive and unforgettable experience for fans.

Ghost is one of my all-time favorite bands, so you know I had to do a ‘Dress Like’ post on Papa Emeritus! There are lots of religious-influenced attire, especially during Papa I-III’s reigns, but Papa IV expanded his stage fashion the most. If you’re looking to dress like Papa Emeritus from the band Ghost, you’ll need to channel the band’s signature blend of gothic and theatrical style. Start with a black, ankle-length, flowing robe with wide sleeves and a hood. This is the centerpiece of the outfit, and you can find similar robes at costume shops or online retailers. Next, add a white, ruffled collar and cuffs to the robe, and wear black gloves to complete the look. For footwear, black boots with buckles or laces work well. Finish off the costume with the signature Papa Emeritus mask, which resembles a skull with black and white face paint and a tall, pointed hat. You can purchase a mask or make your own using paper-mâché or a similar material. Overall, the goal is to create a dark, regal look that exudes a sense of mystery and power, much like the enigmatic figure of Papa Emeritus himself.
