In today’s world, finding love can be challenging, and with the rise of dating apps, it seems like there is an endless sea of potential partners right at our fingertips. However, despite their convenience, dating apps can often leave us feeling frustrated and overwhelmed. That’s where using a matchmaker service might be a better option for you than the apps. And just to put it out there up front, you don’t have to pay for the match-making services. Most of the ones I will mention below have a free option to join their database so you have the possibility to be matched with their paying clients. If you’re super serious, though, it might be worth making the investment, but I highly recommend at least getting in the databases!
Matchmaking Services
While there are many more than the three I am highlighting below, I thought it’d be best to show the ones I personally tried out. How they typically work when you’re in the database is if they come across your profile while searching for dates for a paying client, they will get in touch and see if you are single and interested. If so, they’ll ask you some additional questions to see if you truly are a good match for their client. Be honest on your profile and when speaking with the matchmaker, the goal isn’t just to get a date here, the goal is to find someone that has true potential for a relationship.
Cinqe: I’m super biased because this is how I met my current boyfriend! Cinqe works with “VIP clients” in several other cities around the US and Canada, including a presence in Austin. Both men and women can join Cinqe’s “Complimentary Network” for free. Once they screened me and thought I’d be a good fit, they sent me some information and a photo before presenting my profile to see about setting up a first date.
Luma: LUMA Matchmaking is a national matchmaking service, with 40+ locations around the US. LUMA offers a free option that includes having your profile placed in their national database of singles. This was a similar process as Cinqe, with some information and a photo about the potential date provided.
Tawkify: I was invited to join Tawkify by a matchmaker who came across my social media profiles, but if you sign up yourself the fee is $99/yr, and your profile will be included in the database pool, but you will not be paired with your own matchmaker. This means you don’t have guaranteed dates, but Tawkify will set you up with one of their members if you seem like a good fit. I will also note that Tawkify are all blind dates, so you don’t know much about your date going into it.
Why should you try out a matchmaking service?
Personalized Approach
One of the biggest advantages of working with a matchmaker is the personalized approach they provide. Matchmakers take the time to get to know their clients, their interests, and their relationship goals. This personalized approach means that you are matched with people who are more likely to be compatible with you, rather than being bombarded with a sea of potential matches like on dating apps.
Quality Over Quantity
Dating apps often prioritize quantity over quality, which can make it challenging to find someone who is truly compatible with you. In contrast, matchmakers focus on quality over quantity. They carefully vet potential matches to ensure that they are a good fit for their clients. This means that you are more likely to go on dates with people who share your interests, values, and relationship goals.
More Efficient
Dating apps can be a time-consuming process, as you may need to spend hours swiping and messaging potential matches. In contrast, matchmakers do the work for you. They take the time to find compatible matches and arrange dates on your behalf. This means that you can focus on getting to know your matches and building meaningful connections, rather than spending hours swiping through endless profiles.
Safety and Security
Online dating can be risky, and it can be challenging to know who you are really talking to on dating apps. Matchmakers provide an added layer of safety and security. They carefully screen potential matches to ensure that they are who they say they are and that they have the best intentions. This means that you can feel confident and secure when meeting your matches.
While dating apps may seem like the more convenient option, using a matchmaking service could be a better approach that leads to a more meaningful connection. I’d definitely try it out and see how it goes, what’s the worst that can happen? If you spend the time and effort on your initial profile, you can sit back and relax while a professional matchmaker does all the work for you.
