My mom gets asked to bring her deviled eggs to literally each and every family gathering we have and it’s been that way for years now. Easter, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Birthdays… you name it! If you’ve ever tried one of her deviled eggs, you might know why – they are freaking delicious! When I moved to Austin, I finally attempted to make her deviled eggs myself. She just eyeballs everything and somehow makes it taste amazing each time (in fact, when she experiments people will complain haha) so getting her to guess the amounts for each ingredient was interesting and I’ve made a couple tweaks as I’ve made them to get it closer to her eggs.
Ingredients
- 12 eggs
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/4 cup yellow mustard
- 1/4 cup pickle relish
- A few dashes of hot sauce
- 1 packet of sweetener
- Red pepper flakes
- Paprika
To Make
Boil your eggs (duh). Start with your mayo, mustard, relish, hot sauce, and sweetener – mix them together with the egg yolks until it’s the consistency you like. Add more relish or sweetener to taste. Spoon into the egg halves and sprinkle with red pepper flakes. I like to add a little sweet paprika on top, as well. I know it sounds super simple but I swear by it – they are the best! Give it a try and let me know what you think!
